GIICA Leadership Team

The GIICA Team is led by Chief Executive Officer, Simon Crooks.

Simon has over four decades of experience in major project delivery, spanning the UK and the length and breadth of Queensland. His leadership has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the state’s most significant infrastructure and urban transformation projects, notably the landmark Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development.

Starting his career in the UK, Simon worked on major civil infrastructure, including a nuclear power station, before relocating permanently to Australia in the 1990s. What started as a secondment in 1988 quickly became a long-term commitment as he was drawn by Queensland’s lifestyle, opportunities, and his Queenslander wife and has proudly called it home ever since.

Simon’s career has been defined by a mix of technical depth, commercial insight, and a collaborative leadership style, including proudly leading Tier 1 contractor Baulderstone’s building business across Queensland and the Northern Territory. Simon has held senior roles across civil construction, building, advisory and development, with experience spanning the public and private sectors. Insiders say Simon is known for his calm under pressure and ability to navigate complexity. He is driven to deliver projects of scale, strategic importance, and community impact. Simon treasures spending time on the weekends with his grandchildren from his dream home in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland that he has been slowly creating for the past 5 years.
