GIICA

The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) is building a statewide legacy of sporting infrastructure that Queenslanders will enjoy for generations as we set the stage for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Between now and 2032, GIICA will deliver 17 new and upgraded venues to be used for the Games; ranging from the new Brisbane Stadium to community sporting facilities that will support our state's growing urban and regional hubs.

The Games will deliver significant economic, trade and tourism benefits in our cities and regions and create better connected, healthier, sustainable and inclusive communities.

We're committed to transparency, accountability and good governance, and will work collaboratively and inclusively to deliver value for money for Queenslanders, on time for the Games.

Our purpose is to build a legacy that transcends the Games, showcasing Queensland design, vision, culture and lifestyle on the world stage.

What we do

GIICA leads the planning, construction and delivery of 17 new and upgraded venues for use before, during and after the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We also provide oversight of an additional two venues that will be delivered by the City of Gold Coast.

GIICA’s venues, identified in the Queensland Government’s 2032 Delivery Plan, are designed to meet both Games requirements and long-term community needs.

As an independent authority, we bring together communities, industry and government to deliver exceptional infrastructure and accelerate Queensland’s transformation.

Our work ensures that, in 2032 and beyond, Brisbane stands proudly among the world’s great cities - showcasing our vision, culture, and lifestyle. We are building now, so our state thrives long after the final medal is won.

Who we work with

Delivering the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games is a massive team effort, involving thousands of athletes, officials and spectators. Behind-the-scenes, there is a large network of organisations working together to make it happen.

GIICA is one of several key partners, each with a distinct role in making the 2032 Games a success and delivering a legacy for Queensland.

Together, we share a vision of a more inclusive, sustainable, and connected society for all.

We work closely with the nine Games Delivery Partners and co-host councils to deliver the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games

As outlined in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Intergovernmental Agreement, ‘Games Delivery Partners’ refer to the key entities responsible for delivery of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
