Current Status
GIICA is working with our Games Delivery Partners to progress the Project Validation Report which will be provided to the Queensland and Australian Governments to support an investment decision.
The Birkdale Community Precinct in the Redlands Coast will become Australia’s northern home of international-level whitewater events, adventure sport and recreation and training for both high-performance sport and swift-water rescue for emergency services.
The new Redland Whitewater Centre will be developed as a sustainable international-standard whitewater venue, providing a unique addition to sport and recreation facilities for the community and broader Queensland.
Games use:
The Redland Whitewater Centre has been earmarked as the host venue for Olympic canoe slalom with 8,000 temporary seats and an integrated warm-up channel.
