Current Status

GIICA is working with our Games Delivery Partners to progress the Project Validation Report which will be provided to the Queensland and Australian Governments to support an investment decision.

The Brisbane Aquatic Centre at Chandler has been a swimming stronghold since hosting the 1982 Commonwealth Games.

The facility attracts significant community use, with over 400,000 users annually through the pool and associated facilities. The venue is also frequently used for school swimming carnivals and local, regional and state competitions. National championships, for a variety of aquatic disciplines, are regularly hosted at the aquatic centre.

The venue will undergo upgrades to complement the new National Aquatic Centre at Spring Hill.
